The Ten Best Zombie Games

Read below to see the ten best zombie games of all time!

As many of you have seen, our site has been “infected” and for the remainder of the week, we will be featuring all Zombie related content. What better way to discuss zombies and video games than to discuss and choose our ten favorite zombie games. Video Games featuring zombies have exponentially grown over the years. We have seen nearly every possible scenario of zombies featured in games, from dark, post apocalyptic settings to using plants to ward off the undead. No matter how unique or bizarre their presentation, we here at GamR Mag love zombies, and these are our ten favorites of all time.

10. Call of Duty: Zombies (World at War/Black Ops/Black Ops 2)

While the entirety of the game(s), or core content, may not be zombie related, we absolutely love teaming up with our friends and fighting off the undead. What really makes Call of Duty Zombies so much fun is the experience each game creates. Each map provides a unique gameplay mechanic, be it riding a bus, launching a rocket, or feeding demons corpses to advance. The bizarre nature of the game(s), combined with wonderfully crafted Easter Eggs, makes CoD: Zombies a wonderful game(s) representing our favorite enemies of all time.

9. Dead Pixels

Dead Pixels is an indie title that was released on the Xbox 360 under the XBLIG (Xbox Live Indie Games) section. For any of those that has played it, you already know why this game is on the list. It is an 8-bit, side scrolling zombie shooter that doubles as a tribute to all great zombie games that came before it. There are tons of references featured in the game, most from the original Resident Evil. The game is quick , fun and easy to pick up and play at a moments notice.

8. Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs Zombies is not only a great, and original, zombie title, it is perhaps one of the best, and most popular, tower defense games of all time. The game features you, the home owner, purchasing and placing plants around your yard, roof or anywhere else they can go, in order to deter zombies from entering your home. Plants vs. Zombies is a fun, lighthearted game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that is why we love it.

7. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Red Dead Redemption was an amazing title, one of the best of 2010. Incorporate that with the wild west, John Marsten, Rockstar’s open world and zombies, and you have one of the best zombie games we have ever played. Undead Nightmare was released in 2010 as a DLC add on to Red Dead Redemption, but quickly became a stand alone mini-game due to its increasing popularity and sales. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare is DLC, and zombies, done right.

6. Resident Evil 2

Following the hit of your predecessor is never easy, but Resident Evil 2 struck gold. The game was an instant hit and featured a unique 2 disc experience. One disc was used to play as Leon Kennedy, a main character of the franchise that would be featured in later iterations, while the other disc was used to play as Claire Redfield, sister of one of the original Resident Evil’s protagonists, Chris Redfield. Resident Evil 2 built of the success of the original, and helped launch one of the greatest, most recognizable video game franchises to date.
